We at Open Research, Inc. (“Open Research”, “we”, “our” or “us”) respect your privacy.
This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you use our oo.ai website, along with any associated software applications websites, features, functionalities, and other Open Research services (“Service”). It also describes your privacy rights.
This Privacy Policy does not govern personal information that you provide to third parties, such as third-party login services, that you use to access our Service. The privacy policies of these services govern the personal information that you provide to them. This Privacy Policy also does not apply to any employment-related personal information processed in consideration of employment with Open Research.

- Publicly available data: We train our models in part using information that is publicly available on the internet. While we do not intentionally seek out personal information, we understand that there is personal information incidentally included in some datasets.

- Internet search data: The Service uses internet search results. In some instances, this data may include personal information.
- How we may collect it: Internet search data is provided by internet search providers.

- Payment data: If you have purchased a Paid Service such as a paid subscription, we may have a third party to process related information, such as payment card information, name, phone number, sex, date-of-birth, and details regarding your transactions for us.
- How we may collect it: Through a third party that processes payments (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play Store).
- How we may use it: To provide, analyze, and maintain our Service; to provide support and assistance in relation to our Service; to ensure the security and integrity of our Service and your personal information; to verify identity; for legal purposes.

We do not aim to collect sensitive personal information (e.g., information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, health, biometric data, criminal background, or trade union membership) and ask that you do not provide us with any such information, in your Inputs to the Service or otherwise. If you include personal information in Inputs you provide, this information may be reproduced in the Output. In addition, in relation to our AI model's training, Open Research does not process training data for the purposes of inferring or deriving any sensitive or special category data about individuals and we do not actively seek out data sources that include sensitive or special category data.
3. How we may use personal information
We may use your personal information for a variety of purposes, as explained to you above. Below, you will find additional information and examples of how we may use your personal information.
- To provide, analyze, and maintain our Service: For example, to respond to your inputs or to process payments for subscriptions to our Service.
- To provide support and assistance in relation to our Service: For example, to provide customer support and troubleshoot problems.
- To develop and improve our Service: For example, to develop new product features, to train our models, and to operate and expand our business activities.

We will maintain and use de-identified information in de-identified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information, unless required by applicable law.

We may disclose your personal information to others, as explained to you above. Below, you will find additional information and examples of how we may disclose your personal information.
- To our contracted service providers: To assist us in meeting business operations needs and to perform certain services and functions, we may disclose personal information to service providers, including providers of hosting services, customer service vendors, cloud services, content delivery services, support and safety monitoring services, email communication software, web analytics services, payment and transaction processors, and other information technology providers. These parties are to access, process, or store personal information only in performing their duties to us and pursuant to our instructions.
- To third parties that you interact with or share information with through features in the Service: Information you share with third parties is governed by that third party’s terms and policies, and you should make sure you understand those terms and policies before sharing information with them.
- To our affiliated companies: To our affiliated companies to the extent such sharing is necessary to fulfill a request you have submitted via our Service or for customer management, customer support, technical operations, or other purposes described above.
- In connection with business transfers: In connection with, including during negotiation of, any merger, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, transaction, or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets to another company. If required by applicable laws, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any transfer of personal information to an unaffiliated third party.
- For legal purposes: To (i) comply with laws or to respond to lawful requests and legal process, (ii) protect the rights and property of Open Research and our agents, customers, and others, including to enforce our agreements, policies, and Terms and Conditions of Service, (iii) to protect against legal liability, or (iv) to protect the personal safety of Open Research, its customers, or any person.
5. Retention
We’ll retain your personal information for only as long as we need to provide the Service to you, or for other legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes, safety and security reasons, or complying with our legal obligations. The specific retention periods depend on the nature of the information, why it is collected and processed, and the nature of the legal requirement. For example, we may retain your personal information:
- When we have a legal obligation to do so (e.g., if we receive a court order, we will retain your information for longer than our usual retention periods).
- To address and resolve requests and complaints (e.g., if there is an ongoing complaint by you or about you).
- To protect the safety, security, and integrity of our business and the Service, as well as to protect our rights and property and those of others (e.g., if we detect misuse of our Service or otherwise detect unusual activity on your account or in your interactions with us).

In some cases, the length of time we retain data depends on the features you use or your settings. In certain circumstances, we will retain your information for legal reasons after our contractual relationship has ended.

7. Security of personal information
We implement commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include secure socket layer (SSL) communication channels, and data encryption, as well as a secure infrastructure for protecting the systems and services where user data is stored and processed. However, as no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free, you should take special care in deciding what information you provide to the Service. In addition, you are solely responsible for protecting your log-in and password, limiting access to your devices, and signing out of websites and accounts after your sessions. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Service, or third-party websites.
8. Links to other services and websites
Our Service may contain links or other connections to external websites, social media platforms, or other third-party services that are not operated by us. Third-party websites and services have their own terms of service and privacy policies, and you should read these carefully before you submit any personal information to them.
9. Children
As noted in the Terms and Conditions of Service, our Service is not directed to children or minors under the age of 13 (or other applicable minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from them. If you are a child under the age of 13 (or other applicable minimum age in your country), please do not attempt to register for or otherwise use our Service. If you believe that we may have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13 (or other applicable minimum age in your country), please inform us by email to support@openresearch.ai.
Parents of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 years old (or older than 17 if applicable in your country) must agree to the Terms and Conditions of Service. Parents should take note that while we have taken measures to limit undesirable training data and outputs, our Service could produce output that is not appropriate for all ages. Depending on how a user interacts with the Service, the Service may have content such as some suggestive dialogue, coarse language, crude humor, sexual situations, or violence. We urge parents to exercise care in monitoring the use of this Service by their teenagers.
10. Privacy rights and choices
You may have certain statutory or common law rights in relation to your personal information (either by itself or in combination with other information) (1) depending on where you are located and (2) subject to applicable legal exceptions. Such rights may include:
- The right not to consent to the collection and processing of your personal information, but please note that could result in Service features or functions not being available to you.
- The right to withdraw your previously given consent to the collection and processing of your personal information. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing already conducted with your consent, nor will it affect any processing conducted in reliance on lawful grounds other than consent.
- The right to request to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information in our possession and control.
- The right to submit certain privacy requests through an authorized agent.
- The right to be free from discrimination for exercising the rights afforded to you under applicable privacy laws.
- The right **not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated decision making (decisions without human involvement), where the decision would have a legal effect on you or produce a similarly significant effect.

Exercising your rights. Some of these rights may be exercised through the Open Research Service but for others you will need to submit a request to support@openresearch.ai and include your full legal name, date of birth, email address, username, and physical address. Once you have submitted and we have received your request, we will respond within the time frame permitted by applicable privacy laws. Please note, however, that your personal information may be exempt from such requests in certain circumstances, for example if we need to keep using your information to comply with our own legal obligations or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. If an exception applies, we will inform you when responding to your request.
Verification. To protect your personal information, your ability to exercise some of the rights detailed in this Privacy Policy may be subject to your ability to verify that you are the person about whom your request pertains. We may require you to verify your identity by validating your account credentials or by submitting additional information.
Authorized Agents. To use an authorized agent to exercise your rights, you must provide your authorized agent with your written permission, and we may request a copy of this written permission when a request is made on your behalf by someone claiming to be your authorized agent. We reserve the right to deny requests from authorized agents that do not submit proof of their authorization.
Appeals. If we decline to act within a reasonable period after receiving a request from you, you may appeal our decision by emailing us at support@openresearch.ai. In such an appeal, you must provide (1) sufficient information to enable us to identify the original request and to verify that you are the person about whom the original request pertains, and (2) a description of the basis of your appeal. We respond to all appeal requests as soon as we reasonably can, and no later than legally required. Your appeal will be subject to your rights and obligations afforded to you under applicable law.
Do not track. Please note that because the effect of "Do Not Track" signals remains unclear, and because there continues to be no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to such a signal, we do not alter our privacy practices when we detect a "Do Not Track" signal from your browser.
11. Changes to the privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be published on this page with an effective date, unless another type of notice is required by applicable law. If you use the Service after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, all changes will apply to your use of the Service as of the stated effective date.
